My colleague and I have stumbled across a huge security flaw in Apple’s brand new iOS which we thought should be public knowledge...
Whilst having a play around with the new features Lee Haigh and I (@AaronBarber_UK) soon realised that whilst having a passcode on the iPhone 5 (which people now seem to think is mandatory due to the new setup process) you can access Siri’s features. We decided to push these features to see if it was possible to post a status to Facebook, Siri allowed this to happen eventhough we hadn’t inputted our passcode.
We moved forward trying to text via Siri – again this was allowed to happen.
This also works for making calls!!!
We aren’t sure if the world is aware of what we think is a big security issue or even if Apple are aware. We can’t even test to see if this is possible on older Firmware but we thought it would be worth making a note of this and telling the world.
In a nutshell having a Passcode on your newly updated iPhone will not stop people acting as you – so be careful...
Over and Out.
